Perhaps its not new. Navit is sometimes unable to calculate a new route while I'm on the move with bicycle. I tested it with an easy, short route. It needs 10 sec to calculate the route while not moving. With moving its not ready after 30min. GPS-Signal was found after starting the tour (this has nothing to do with Navit, normal), so calculating starts while I'm moving.

It seems, that Navit always try to restart calculation of the route, when GPS-Coordinates are changing. Perhaps, it should hold one Point and calculate the route ready for this startpoint.

A workaround is, not to move and wait for the route.

Can you please post more details on the issue?
  • What platform?
  • Which maps (date/country)?
  • Any custom settings on gps vehicle?

For my WinCE PNA this works well (even slowly).

Platform is Android on a weak smartphone with 200 MB memory. Perhaps this problem is only on weak smartphones.

Map is Germany, Brandenburg 2013.
Navit is the original, Version 0.5.0.

Navit has no problems, to find the route while not moving on this map.

custom settings: A lot in navit.xml. Routing for bicycle. But for car the same.

And what is not the problem: If a route is calculated, its no problem, to take an other way. Navit can change the route, if I leave it. Thats another case!

I tested today on an other route and it works with route calculating while moving. I want to test it out, what it is. In a few days I will test one of the both routes again, were the problem occured.

I tested today one of the both "problems-route" today and route-calculating was ok. I tested it also with train, so Navit has to calculate very fast new routes on the streets near the train and its works.

Since the calculation failed two times, I have a newer version of Navit 0.5.0. Perhaps the problem is solved with this.

One Question: Is it possible, to use gpx-measurement-files for the Demo-Car to test route-calculating? Gpx-File plus route-calculating to an aim?

AFAIK it's currently not possible to let the demo vehicle drive differently from the route that is defined by the start/end routing.

I had a chat with cp15 that he likes to see such a feature, because it's impresses more at presentations and allows more sophisticated testing. A first ticket is #656 that request dynamical speed for the device.
If you like you can create a new ticket for that, but I guess we will need till navit >0.6 to start this implementation.

For Linux there is a software-GPS which follows a gpx-route AFAIK.
So you'd have a chance to track your driving and then test routing with it on your desk(top).
I was searching for it but never tried it myself.

I found gpsfeed+:
Description;
"A software gps simulator, providing TCP/IP, UDP, http and serial port connectivity in NMEA 0183, XML or user defined output format. Usable for testing all kinds of GPS applications. Can playback pre-recorded GPS files with NMEA output."

NMEA, is this not from Demo-car of Navit?

Perhaps, with gpsfeed+ I could test Navit with weak gps-signals, I saved. Then, I could see, its the reason Navit or problems with the Smartphone ( to long worked without restart it).

I tried it. I do not underdstand, how to config it.

Maybe I'm outdated, but the Demo vehicle uses only the final route provided by routing to drive it along, doesn't it? So faking GPS has no influence?

You start it not as an Demo-car, you start it as normal GPS-Car. The calculated route has no influence to the car then, but the car has influence to route-calculation.
I get gpsfeed run with a built-in very fast Circle-Gps-Way and the car on Navit runs with the speed of a rocket :lol: Very funny, and Navit was able, to find fast enough a new route!

In the wiki I found this!

Save in nmea-format(for me this do not work):
Code:
<log type="nmea" data="/sdcard/navit/logs/track_%Y%m%d%i_nav.nmea" flush_size="1000" flush_time="30" />

car-simulation with nmea-data (tested, works):
Code:
<vehicle name="Local GPS" profilename="car" enabled="yes" active="1" source="file:/home/myhome/track_date_nav.nmea" follow="1">
