Yep, but I don't know much about the implementation. So I think, that for example France has a slightly different use of the boundary levels and need some kind of workaround. (the people over at http://maposmatic.org had similar problems with their city search a year ago).

Since the changes applied to maptool in April, 2013, maptool should properly recognize town boundaries in Germany and a few other countries. Then it does not use any radius, but uses exact place boundary. is_in tags are not that important now, they are used only to fall back if country boundary is broken.

I don't think, that it works here in Switzerland. I know a lot of streets in a lot of cities, that will not found in Navit. p.e. Rufenen in Plaffeien http://www.openstreetmap.org/?mlat=46.7 ... 44/7.29440

I've checked also the boundary: is correct. Relation 1683378

Why I can't find this road in Navit?

Switzerland was not one of those few countries. I have intcluded it now (http://sourceforge.net/p/navit/code/5655/), so hopefully you'll have more success with binfile maps converted on 2013-10-17 and later.

Please also verify if State and County attributes of towns are acceptable. I have mapped admin_level=4 relations to State and admin_level=6 relations to County name. We can change this mapping if it makes more sense to map different levels to State and County levels.

Good to know :)

I added an corresponding entry to the FAQ:
http://wiki.navit-project.org/index.php ... _not_found
I'm not sure, should we maintain a list of countries at this wikipage, or just redirect to the osm.c method?

Would it be possible, to change the code, that navit search also within admin_level=9 / boundary=postal_code?
