But on Android-Smartphone there is no text. (I have still no Picture for bookmarks).

Did you check where your bookmarks.txt file is on Android? On my Linux box, the $NAVIT_SHAREDIR points to /usr/share/navit (I checked by starting Navit from command line and watching the startup messages ) - which would have been useless - as by default, Navit places the bookmarks.txt file in the user's home directory, under ~/.navit/bookmarks.txt

I'm not sure how things are laid out on Android though.

I found it:

This for Android:
Code:
<map type="textfile" data="/data/data/org.navitproject.navit/home/bookmark.txt"/>

This for Linux:
Code:
<map type="textfile" data="$NAVIT_SHAREDIR/bookmark.txt"/>

I just got to know this cool feature :-)

It should be mentioned, that the display of bookmarks can be toggled by toggling the related map setting. Furthermore you can start with hidden bookmarks by using the 'active="no"' option inside the <map> tag. I prefere this, because I do use many waypoints for tour planning.

This for Linux:
Code:
<map type="textfile" active="no" data="$NAVIT_SHAREDIR/bookmark.txt"/>

Hey, chr, good idea!

I tested still something else. You can take the bookmark.txt-File and rename it. Then in the same way p.e.
Code:
<map type="textfile" active="no" data="/Path/to/file/bookmarks_Russian.txt"/>

or similiar and you can see these bookmarks (on the map only). But you cannot change them on navit-map, cannot select them, its a liitle bit write-protected.

Between this thread and the bug trac I finally managed to get this to work on an old Huawei Ideos U8150-B that runs froyo. However, the locations for files seem to be different for android builds. I'm using the latest from f-droid (they have only 0.5.0-6328 from 18Nov2015, not the latest from github/playstore), so that may explain the difference from whatever was out in 2013.

The posts here say the bookmark file should be at /data/data/org.navitproject.navit/home/bookmark.txt but this location does not exist, it might now be /data/data/org.navitproject.navit/share/bookmark.txt on a default install. But since I moved this to the SD card, the location is now /sdcard/navit/bookmark.txt.

I could not find /usr/share/navit/xpm, that location does not seem to exist at all (nor could I find anywhere else any of the other icons are kept) so I could not put the icon there. I gave up and put it alongside the bookmark file, so I also had to add a full path pointing to it.

The other problem is that /data/data/org.navitproject.navit/share/ where the navit.xml is now found, requires root access that not all users will have.

Newbees also need to know that variables like $NAVIT_SHAREDIR don't seem to get properly expanded for the android version so the locations need to be specified completely.
