Post subject:  Android: enable magnetic compass

I have been experimenting with the magnetic sensors on Android.
The purpose is to let the map align with the magnetic compass for
profiles bike, pedestrian, horse ...
see my ticket :

For anyone who wants to test it without compiling the whole works,
I have a prebuilt version :
(based on svn 5909)
EDIT: now also works in near-vertical positions and also includes the patch for

To use it:
In the vehicle profile of your choice set static_speed en static_distance to zero.
Run navit and select that profile.
In the popup menu (long tap on Android screen), tap on 'enable magnetic compass'
Now see the map align with the magnetic compass at each gps fix.
In the popup menu you now have an line 'disable magnetic compass' to revert to
GPS bearing (worthless when standing still, better if making some speed).
