I'd like to place the map I use at the external sd card. Navit can't do so. I own a Samsung J3 2017 Smartphone with Android 7.0 (Nougat) which restricts write access to the external sd card. Unfortunately it doesn't offer to format the external sd card as internal.
A fresh install of Navit will be placed to the internal sd card. If I choose to let it reside there, everything is fine. Fetching a map and saving it works, bookmarks writing works.
If I choose to pick another place for the map at the external sd card, Navit saves the new path, but is not allowed to write there. No map download works, no bookmarks work. If I pick the external sd card and mount it at my PC to write a map file to it, then Navit can read the map from external sd card, but still isn't able to write bookmarks.
There is a software on the phone called documentprovider. ES file explorer and titanium backup have tips, how to activate the documentprovider to get write access to the external sd card for their application.
I even found a statement saying that there are apps which can write to external sd card out of the box - if they are coded right. I am no coder, so I don't know if this is true.
So, I can manage to place my map at the external sd card by writing it with my PC.
My question is, can I configure a different path for bookmarks?
My wish is to get a Navit version with write permissions to the external sd card for map and bookmarks with my Nougat Android.
