Hello,

I've been using Navit for several years now and it lead me very well.
With the change to github I guess there came up the issue that I wasn't able to run the new versions because Navit crashed right after starting without message.
It runs well up to version navit-git-:7c6a857 (6446). Everything I tried after this went wrong. Because of lack of time, because of too many other projects I stayed with this working solution.

But now I was able to figure out where the problem is: It is in my old xml file that I customise for the use with my Smasung S3. OS ist Android 7.1.1 , a Resurection Remix Nougat Image from April of this year.

This line in my xml lets crash the recent Navit version:
<osd enabled="yes" osd_configuration="15" type="image" x="-224" y="53" w="224" h="33" src="/sdcard/navit/right_radius.png"/>
All lines with type="image" do this.

When adding use_overlay="true" then it runs but you can't read the text that should appear in that area of this transparent image.

So I changed type="image" to type="button" and removed use_overlay="true" and added an empty command statement.
So it runs as known and expected.
Is there a solution with the image type or did I miss something?

However, there is one issue left:
How can I get rid of this transparent area at the bottom in portrait mode and at the right side in landscape mode? Please see attached image, there it is marked with ??.
It ist there in window mode and full screen mode too.
Would be nice to have a solution.

Another thing that seems to be solved: After somehow changing between the screen settings Car and Bike it was always starting with the Bike layout. I had added active="1" in the first layout's tag of my Android-Car layout but didn't change behavior. I had to rename it to Bike_ and so it always starts now with my Android-Car layout.

Just another thing: In Night mode and in the night, when switching to Day layout: Why does it switch back after some time automatically? My old version doesn't do this and I would like to have it that way.

Hope there are solutions and this may help to improve the code.

Cgfan
