Hi, can't find solution, the same issue on debian wheezy and windows 7.
- this is installator, I've downloaded for windows 7. In Debian I used rep from stable release.
Downloaded whole planet from here: link (not sure where to I was rederected from here to maps5, or maps9 or somwhere else)
The bin file is downloaded properly, I am able to open it as an archive.
I edited
Code:
<mapset enabled="yes">
         <map type="binfile" enabled="yes" data="F:\planet140126.bin"/>
      </mapset>
in my navit.xml (in windows there is only one such file), disabled example map.
And when I open program just nothing shown, in log file I found:
Code:
map_binfile:binfile_read_eoc:eoc signature check failed: 0xa vs 0x6054b50
map_binfile:map_binfile_zip_setup:unable to read eoc
map_binfile:map_binfile_open:invalid file format for 'F:\planet140126.bin'

Please, help.

Which Navit version number are you using?

Hi!

The problem with Windows version is that our build environment for that platform is unable to make off_t to be 64 bit. So lseek, lstat and others do not support files more than 2GB on that platform.

Define _FILE_OFFSET_BITS 64 in navit/file.c should make the trick but this does not work on mingw32 version we use.

Possible solutions would be:

As for linux version, I'm unable to reproduce this bug even on 32bit x86 system. So I would suggest to re-check that you actually have full planet.bin file (its size should be more than 2GB anyway, and it should be readable by your favourite zip tool). If that does not help, I'd suggest recompiling linux version from svn sources.

svn5741 version and later will produce a log message if navit binary you're using does not support files above 2GB.

I'm also having problems with Deb Wheezy and Navit not displaying a map. After installation of latest version via 'apt-get install' on Raspberry Pi V2 I'm able to see the demo map and all seems good but as soon as I disable the demo map, enable openstreetmap and point the application to the downloaded map from http://maps5.navit-project.org/ there is something that very vaguely resembles some sort of map but nothing near useful. If anyone can help with this it's greatly appreciated.

Which date does the downloaded map have, and which area does it cover? Does this effect happen at all zoom levels? Usually I have seen this effect only when either a boundary polygon was broken in the original data or when the map was zoomed out quite far and the simplification algorithm created these blocks.

it happens at all zoom levels, the first map I tried was downloaded on 04-Feb-14 and the latest map I tried was downloaded on 7-Feb-14. The navit program was downloaded and installed with all options Monday of last week. I can check what version of navit is installed when I am at my Ras Pi later today.

I agree with xenos1984, most probably you have zoomed out a lot and can't now find location which is covered by the map.

maps.navit-project.org makes extract in such a way that it always includes some objects from all over the world, not only objects in your selected box. Also, on low zoom levels navit output is quite unreadable. So it's not always simple to find your area of interest once you have zoomed out a lot.

I suggest you to zoom 10 steps in to any place of map, then click on the map, go to Actions->Town and search for a town which you expect to be included on the map. Don't forget to change country if flag to the left of the input box is not the one of your country. Then you can ask navit to show it on the map and, probably. viola :)

With current svn edition 5743 you should have success on Windows.
